SAINT COLUMBAN COLLEGE
Believing that globalization can aid towards a progressive education, the College of Teacher Education, Arts and Sciences (CTEAS) once proclaimed that learning in 21st century is integral and ever-changing. With the theme, “Globalisasyon: Tumong sa tinuod nga kausaban ipadayon, Yawi kini sa kalambuan sa edukasyon. Hugyaw! Kay ato kini nga adlaw!!!”, CTEAS College Days called as Hugyaw proved a recognition of ASEAN’s role in the present and future..
Started on August 17, Hugyaw’s DAY 1 was highlighted by an Invitational Basketball Game featuring CTEAS Faculty versus SCC Employees and CTEAS Players versus High School Varsity. The High School Varsity emerged as the victor.
August 19, Day 2, was a whole package of fun. The morning comprised Mascot and Mass Dance Competition participated by all the clubs in the department: English World Enthusiasts (EWE), Political Science Association of Young Statesmen (POLISAYS), Social Active Students (SAS), The League of MAPEH Students (TLMS), Kasamahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Filipino (KAMAFIL), Societas Philosophiae, Sci Matrix, and Mentors.
The evening accentuated Film Making with Music video and All-in-One Musical Band Contests.
August 20 was the last day of Hugyaw. Color Fun Run and Zumba occurred early in the morning followed by Larong Pinoy and Unity Lunch. The night of Day 3 was the most exciting event as it was the Awarding Ceremony. CTEAS students wore ASEAN attire (except Filipino attire) and witnessed how the different clubs contended for Hip Hop Dance prior to the announcement of winners.
Finally, the proclaimed conquerors for each category were: Mascot – TLMS, Mass Dance – TLMS, Film Making – EWE, Music Video – POLISAYS, Musical Band – EWE, Drama Excerpt – Mentors, and Hip Hop Dance – EWE. The over-all results were as follows: 3rd Runner-up – Sci Matrix, 2nd Runner-up – Mentors, 1st Runner-up – TLMS, and Champion – EWE.
